The first seminar was held in the War Studies Room of King’s College, London on 2 November 2012. I would like to thank Prof Mervyn Frost for generously hosting this event. The final programme is available here.
A summary of the panel presentations is available here.
The first panel began with an exploration of how international society has adapted to rising powers in the past and seeks to establish the potential challenge to current societal norms represented by China and India. The following two panels looked at Chinese and Indian conceptions of international society. The seminar then concluded with a roundtable discussion on British foreign policy and the rising powers, with the involvement of a representative from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, academics, and policymakers.
